Festival Macumba invites you to fall in love with the music straight from the streets of Latin America. This festival was born in 2018 from the idea to translate the unique ambiance and experience of club night Fiesta Macumba into an outdoor festival. After three successful editions, we’re back this year with the biggest one yet!

On Saturday the 22nd of July 2023, the beautiful natural area at Ouderkerkerplas in Amsterdam will shine with the best DJ’s, live acts and dancers from the scene, Latin street food & life style and much more. General

Where and when is Festival Macumba?

Festival Macumba takes place on Saturday the 22nd of July 2023 at the Ouderkerkerplas, in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. At cycling distance from Amsterdam.

What are the opening times?

We open the gates at 12:00 pm and the festival ends at 23:00 pm. You can enter until 20:00 pm at the latest.

What is the minimum age requirement?

There is a minimum age requirement of 18 years. You are required to bring a valid ID. A copy of the ID is not regarded as valid.

Are there lockers at the festival?

Yes, there are both large and regular size lockers available. Prevent standing in line and purchase your locker beforehand on this page against a reduced price. It is also possible to purchase a locker at the festival.

Is the festival accessible for people in a wheelchair?

Yes, the terrain is mostly ground floor.

I lost something at the festival. What should I do?

If you lost personal items such as keys, a wallet or phone, you can visit the website of iLOST to look for your missing items. All items that we find will be put up on this website.

What happens in case of rainfall?

We are always prepared! It will be a nice 20 degrees with some clouds as well as some sun peeking through. Although the forecast changes a lot, we are prepared for some rainfall. Don’t worry: there are stretch tents and spots to stay dry on various parts of the terrain. There are also rain ponchos available for only €0,20 at all of the bars.

Transport

How do I get to Festival Macumba?

Bicycle
The Ouderkerkerplas can be easily reached by bicycle. Please navigate to Aan de Wind, Ouderkerk a/d Amstel. From this location you can simply follow the signs to the free bicycle parking area in front of the festival terrain.

Shuttle Bus
Shuttle buses are constantly riding to bring you to and from the festival. The shuttle bus stop is at Station Bijlmer ArenA. Please note that you need a shuttle bus ticket for this. A return ticket costs €7,50 and is available on our Ticket page.

Kiss & Ride and Taxi
Navigate to Snijdersbergweg to get to the Kiss & Ride and Taxi drop-off location. From here it is a 15 to 20 minute-walk to the festival. Follow the signs to the festival entrance. Please note: there are roadblocks in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, so it is not possible to be dropped off closer than this. Another option is to get dropped off at Station Bijlmer ArenA and take the shuttle bus to the festival. That way you will arrive right in front of our entrance!

Can I get to the festival with public transport?

Yes! When traveling by public transport, it’s best to travel to Station Bijlmer ArenA. From there just take our shuttle buses to the festival. A return ticket can be purchased on our Ticket page.

I would like to come by car. Where can I park?

There are no parking possibilities in Ouderkerk aan den Amstel. However, if you wish to come by car, we advise you to park in the ArenA area. This is marked with signs from the A2/A9 highway. From the ArenA arena it is just a few minutes walking to the shuttle bus stop at Station Bijlmer ArenA.

Food & Drinks

Do I have to buy tokens in order to pay for food and drinks?

No! Adios tokens. At Festival Macumba we use a cashless payment system so you simply pay with your pin card or credit card at the bars and food stands. Easy! The big advantage is that you won’t have to stand in line anymore to purchase expensive, plastic coins.

Option 2: A Festival Macumba Debit Card
People with foreign credit cards or just cash can purchase and charge their Festival Macumba debit card at the festival.

Can I bring my own food & drinks?

No you can’t. However, Festival Macumba offers a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including free tap water, as well as a large selection of food, including biological and vegetarian options.

I received a recycle token, what can I do with this?

We only use reusable plastic cups and bottles to keep Festival Macumba waste-free. “Leave No Trace” is our motto! This is how it works:

At the festival entrance you will receive a recycle token. You can hand in this token at the bar during your order in exchange for a cup/bottle/can. Don’t throw this away but hand it in at the bar and receive a new token for your next order, or you can just order a new drink right away.

Did you happen to lose your cup/bottle/can? In that case you pay €1,50 for a new one during your next order.

Tickets

I have not personalized my tickets yet, is this a problem?

No, you can personalize your tickets from March 1st 2023 onwards. You will receive your ticket a few days before the festival.

Can’t make it to the festival anymore and wish to sell your ticket? This is only possible through our official ticket partner Ticketswap.

I would like to change the name and/or e-mail address on my ticket, how do I do this?

You can do this through our ticket supplier Paylogic. You can reach them through the contact form or live chat via this link.

I lost my tickets, how can I find them back?

Don’t worry, Paylogic can resend you the tickets. Please get in touch with them via this link.

I bought tickets but I have not received them yet by e-mail. Why?

In order to download your tickets, all of the purchased tickets in your order have to be personalized. When this has been done, the tickets will be sent to you by e-mail a few days before the festival. Personalization can be done through the link in your confirmation e-mail. In case you can’t find this e-mail anymore, please follow this link and fill in your e-mail address.

House Rules

What are Festival Macumba’s house rules?

To make Festival Macumba as enjoyable as possible for all visitors, the following house rules apply:

  • The minimum age to visit the festival is 18 years. We can ask visitors to show a valid ID at any time.
  • Visitors have to be in possession of a valid entry ticket.
  • The possession or dealing of hard drugs is prohibited at the festival. If there is any evidence of overt use and/or possession, confiscation of the drugs will follow and/or the offender will be handed over to the police. The possession and/or use of small amounts (max. 5 grams) of soft drugs for personal use will be tolerated, with the exception of pre-rolled joints.
  • We will search visitors pre-emptively and check their (hand) bags to ensure the safety of her visitors.
  • Possession of glass, plastic bottles, cans, fireworks, drugs, (fire) arms and/or other dangerous or prohibited items or substances, food, (alcoholic) drinks and/or pets are not allowed.
  • Visitors enter the festival at their own risk. We take no responsibility for any damages on any grounds whatsoever, which directly or indirectly arise out of acts or omissions of the festival, persons in its service, other persons who are working at the festival, or third parties during or in connection with the stay at the festival, unless the damage is caused by intent or gross negligence.
  • Visitors are advised to wear earplugs; these will be available at the festival’s Payment Card Points.
  • Visitors must be properly dressed. Wearing a football shirt and/or discriminatory clothing is not allowed.
  • The organization reserves the right to refuse / deny (further) access to visitors in a drunken state and/or under the influence of narcotics.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the tents.
  • It is not allowed to urinate outside of the designated restrooms.
  • We will not tolerate threats, abuse, discrimination, sexual harassment and other nuisance and/or offensive behaviour.
  • It is not allowed to hand out promotional materials (samples / flyers, etc.) without written permission.
  • It is not allowed to make professional audio or video recordings without written permission from the festival.
  • When entering and leaving the festival visitors must not cause nuisance to the neighborhood.
  • Glasses / cups are not allowed to be taken outside the festival area.
  • Visitors are held to follow instructions, regulations and/or directions of (security) staff at all times.
  • Access to the festival grounds will be denied to visitors who do not comply with the house rules and the Terms and Conditions without the right to reimbursement of tickets, any service charges and/or other costs.

Celebrate Safe?

A good festival is a safe festival, which is why we work together with Celebrate Safe. Check their website for the 10 pillars of partying responsibly.

Can I take pictures of myself and other visitors at the festival?

Upon entering the festival, you give permission to be photographed and filmed by our hired crew. It is not allowed to bring professional equipment yourself. Of course you are allowed to take pictures and make videos with your phone.

Can I bring a GoPro or selfie stick?

GoPro’s are allowed. Selfie sticks can have a maximum length of 1 meter.

Can I hand out flyers or promote my own event?

No, it is forbidden to hand out or put up any promotional material in and around the festival terrain.
